HSBC Jade Debit Card

In China, you can use your HSBC Debit Card to withdraw cash in RMB at UnionPay ATMs or make purchases via UnionPay POS terminals. The amount will be debited from the primary RMB settlement account linked to your card. You can also use your card to withdraw cash in RMB from both your primary and supplementary RMB accounts at HSBC China ATMs.

Outside China, you can use your card to withdraw cash in the local currency at UnionPay (non-HSBC Group) ATMs or make purchases via UnionPay POS terminals. The amount will be debited from the primary RMB settlement account linked to your card. Subject to the local laws, you could also withdraw cash in the local currency from foreign currency accounts (if any) linked to your debit cards at HSBC Group ATMs outside China. Please note that ATMs in different countries and regions may offer different services, which could affect the transaction services available.*

Attention: At overseas HSBC Group ATMs (except in Taiwan) affiliated with the UnionPay network, you'll only be able to withdraw cash from a foreign currency account and the transaction will be processed through the HSBC global ATM network. So please make sure your debit card has been linked to a foreign currency account with sufficient available balance.

By default, your daily POS terminal spending limit is set as RMB50,000. This helps protect you from potential threats or losses in case your card is lost, stolen or used in another fraudulent way. Transactions exceeding the limit set cannot be completed.

If you need to reset or adjust this limit to meet your actual spending needs, you can apply to do so. Global Private Banking, Premier Elite and Jade customers can set a maximum limit of RMB5 million. For other customers, the maximum limit is RMB1 million.

A debit card can be linked to a maximum of three accounts; a primary account, as well as a secondary and third account (supplementary accounts).

When you travel overseas, you can withdraw the local currency of your destination country via UnionPay network ATMs from the RMB primary account linked to your card. Alternatively, you can withdraw via HSBC ATMs (with or without UnionPay logo) from the foreign currency account linked to your card. If you want to withdraw cash from your designated foreign currency account, please take the following steps to adjust your supplementary account before your departure:

1. Apply to link the designated foreign currency account to your debit card as your second account. Please choose your designated foreign currency based on the destination country.
   Your secondary account is the prioritised account from which you can withdraw cash at HSBC ATMs in some countries and regions, such as Canada, the UK and the US. In other countries or regions, you can choose whether your secondary or third account.
2. To finalise the change to your supplementary accounts, please use your debit card at HSBC China ATMs to complete any of the following actions: transactions, balance enquiry, cash withdrawal and screen language change.

If you want to change the supplementary accounts linked to your debit card, please contact our customer service hotline or visit an HSBC China branch in person with valid identification documents and your debit card. The primary account linked to the debit card can't be changed; therefore we suggest you choose your most commonly-used account as the primary account, and choose other accounts as supplementary ones.

If you want to change the primary account, you will need to cancel your card and apply for a new one. To do so, please visit an HSBC China branch in person with valid identification documents and your debit card.

Attention: To finalise the change to your supplementary accounts, please use your debit card at HSBC China ATMs to complete any of the following actions: balance enquiry, cash withdrawal and screen language change.
