FAQs: Transfer and remittance

1) Log on the online banking and select 'My Banking'-'Transfer and Currency Conversion'.

2) In the new transaction, you can select 'My Payees' or 'New Payee' as transfer account.

2.1) Select 'My Payees' and enter all the required information.

2.2) Select 'New Payee' & 'HSBC Bank Account' as account type and enter all the required information.

2.3) Select 'New Payees' & 'Other Local Bank' as account type and enter all the required information.

3) Enter the transaction code.

4) After verifying the transaction information, you can click the 'Confirm' button.

1) Log on the online banking and select 'My Banking' - 'Transfer and Currency Conversion'.

2) In the new transaction , you can select 'New Payee' as transfer account.

3) Enter the transfer account information, including the name of payee , country and address etc.

4) Input the amount in the transfer detail.

5) Enter the transaction code with the intructions. After verifying the transaction information, you can click the 'Confirm' button.

1) Log on the online banking and select 'My Banking' - 'Transfer and Currency Conversion'.

2) In the new transaction , you can select Multicurrency notes saving account as outward account and  select 'My accounts' as inward account.

3) Enter all the required information.

4) Read FCY conversion terms and click 'Submit' button.

5) After verifying the transaction information, you can click the 'Confirm' button.

Furthermore，you need to pay attention to the following points:

1. Foreign exchange requires the same type of transfer. Exp.  Transfer the exchange accounts to exchange account or transfer the notes accounts to notes account.
2. According to the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, you can transfer foreign currencies between your self-named accounts, or between you and your near relatives' accounts. You should bring valid identification documents and visit your local branch in person for this service.

1) Log on the online banking and select 'My Banking' —'Transfer and Currency Conversion'.

2) In the new transaction, you can select Multicurrency notes saving account as outward account and select 'New payee' as inward account and enter payee bank details information.

3）Add personal details.

4) Enter transfer details.

5) Enter the transaction code and confirm the terms & conditions.  After verifying the transaction information, you can click the 'Confirm' button.

1) After registering for online banking, log on and select the 'My banking' option, followed by 'Manage online banking limits' to adjust your transfer limits.

2) You can also log on to the HSBC China Mobile Banking app, tap on 'Quick actions', followed by 'Card & account settings' to choose the account you need to adjust the transfer limit for. Finally, select the 'Daily transfer limits setting' option to set the limit with your Security Device.  

The Income Declaration Tool on the HSBC China Mobile Banking app allows customers to declare their in-scope overseas inward remittances that meet the requirements of the Regulations on Reporting of Balance of Payments Statistics.

If you use Global Transfer to make payments to your domestic saving accounts from your self-named HSBC Hong Kong account, you'll instantly receive the funds that meet the declaration requirements.

If you use other channels to make inward remittances, please declare the payment online using the Income Declaration Tool.

Log on to the HSBC China Mobile Banking app

Go to 'Me' -> 'Document centre' -> 'International Income Declaration Record'

You can make local transfers in RMB and foreign currencies. We also offer overseas payment-related services. Please comply with the regulations of foreign exchange management, cross-border RMB and anti-money laundering etc.

Yes, you can withdraw cash in RMB or other currencies from your foreign currency exchange accounts, if it complies with the regulations of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE). If the accumulated amount is over USD 10,000 or equivalent, you need to provide extra supporting document signed by the SAFE. Call our customer service team or visit a local branch for more information. 

You'll need to give your local branch 2 business days' notice so they can make sure the currency notes you require are available. All foreign currency cash withdrawals are subject to commission-in-lieu of exchange.

Yes. According to the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, you can transfer foreign currencies between your self-named accounts, or between you and your near relatives' accounts. You should visit your local branch in person for this service.

First, sign up for online banking in that country/territory's HSBC website. Then log on to HSBC China Online Banking and add your account by going to 'Add/Remove a country or territory' under 'Global View' in 'My banking'. You'll need to enter your username, password and token code or answer security questions based on the hints shown on the screen.

Global View is a unique service that allows you to link and see all of your eligible worldwide HSBC accounts from anywhere in the world.

• Support up to 10 currencies for transfer to and out of China – including USD, GBP, EUR, JPY, HKD, CAD, AUD, SGD, CHF & NZD. 
• Global transfer only supports of foreign currency saving accounts. 
• You need to visit the branch in person, or log on online banking to open FCY Sub-account.

Global Transfer is available 24 hours, 7 days a week, except when system maintenance has been scheduled, which is usually early in the morning on weekends or holidays.  Please check the maintenance schedule in the Internet Banking notification page.

Overseas foreign currency transactions between your global HSBC accounts can be made through Online Banking and Mobile Banking. Transfers to family members within your Premier Family account can only be made via Mobile Banking, but we'll be launching other digital channels very soon.

Yes. For cross-currency transfers, a review page will show an indicative exchange rate at which the transfer will be conducted. A confirmation page with details will be shown after the transfer has been processed.

Global Transfer to Self—Transfers within your global HSBC accounts: 

1) For transfers from overseas to China accounts, you can choose to make immediate, future-dated and recurring transfers. The type of transfer is subject to availability at the initiating bank.

2) For transfers from China to overseas accounts, you can choose either immediate or future-dated transfers

Global Transfer to Family—you can make immediate transfers from China to HSBC overseas accounts held by family members in the same HSBC Premier Family account.

Recurring transfer are not available for transfers from China to overseas accounts due to regulatory requirements.

In general, the look-and-feel and process are the same except for transfers from China to overseas. However, for transfers from China to overseas accounts, you'll need to report the reason or purpose of the transfer on the Balance of Payment (BOP) , which is mandatory under China's regulations on Foreign Exchanges Administration. 
Visit our branch for support if the reason or purpose of the transaction is not covered by our Global Transfer service.

Yes, you can check your past 12 months' Global Transfer transaction history. Please select the country/territory of outgoing transfers and the debit account in the 'View transfer history' page.
